I am in the process of upgrading the web design of Helios Resource Network’s web site. The site was built over ten years ago and runs it’s directories with Coldfusion. The database is maintained with online forms and with a Microsoft application called Access. The directory holds a variety of information on hundreds of non-profit organizations. I recently installed a calendar system on the site. Twice a month, I research local websites and add events to the calendar that relate to sustainability. Once the calendar is full of events, a newsletter is sent out to over 600 Eugene residents. The events are submitted by myself and by the public through online forms. Members who sign up for newsletters only receive events in the categories they sign up for. The calendar also features the ability to embed it’s information on any other website.
