Women's Cycling Group
Starts: 8:00 am
Ends: 5:00 pm, June 22, 2013
Description:
The Women's Cycling Group meets for rides that tend to be slower and funkier than the Gears rides. Distances vary (from 10 to 35 miles or more) with some interest in longer tours. We generally have anywhere from 3-10 riders, but have more than 60 women on our list. Riders are of various ages, between early 20s and 70s with the most regular participants more in the 40-60 range, though we have had rides where the majority were quite a bit younger. We are partial to conversation and cafes. Various riders plan and convene the rides. If you want to be notified of upcoming rides, or would like to suggest a ride, please send an email to bmann@uoregon.edu. This is a friendly, relaxed and fun group--and a great way to meet women to cycle with.

APBP NACTO Guide Webinar #3, Next Generation Bikeway Design: Raised cycle tracks
Starts: 12:00 pm
Ends: 1:15 pm, June 26, 2013
Location: 99 E. Broadway, Suite 400
Description: While many cities have relied primarily on signs and markings to radically transform their streets, a growing number of bikeways around the country have been improved and made permanent using higher cost materials, curb relocation and complex engineering. This session will look at two facilities that embody long term solutions for city streets. How can cities effectively move the curb without creating drainage problems? What "green" infrastructure solutions can be incorporated into these new bikeways? What are the highest and lowest cost alternatives to these designs?
Presenters:
Wendy Cawley, Engineer, City of Portland
Karen Haley, Executive Director, Indianapolis Cultural Trail
Jennifer Tower, Engineer, City of Portland
