Description: Fall is a great time to visit Asia, and Ruthy Kanagy did just that last October, taking her folding Bike Friday ‘tikit’ to Indonesia, China and Japan. She joined a 5-day tour of Bali organized by ONE BIKES in Jakarta, and ate, laughed, talked, and cycled her way through city traffic jams, rural villages, ride paddies, mountains, and the coast with 31 Indonesian riders. From there she flew to Beijing to visit several bike shops and rode with Chinese cyclists to the northwest mountains, visiting imperial tombs, temples, ending with a sumptuous feast of fish, jelly fish and other delicacies. Finally, she solo-toured the “Shimanami” Inland Sea route of western Japan – a premier cycling route over scenic islands linked by spectacular bridges, with devoted bike lanes or bike paths throughout. She stayed at family inns, took her ‘tikit’ on the bullet train, and rode with Japanese cyclists. Come and share Ruthy’s experience – you never know, your next cycling adventure may take you to Asia!

Description: Collins Cycle Shop will host a job fair for those interested in a career in the ever growing cycling industry. Employment opportunities include working in a bicycle shop, manufacturing, shipping and receiving, warehousing, mechanic school, independent sales representative, fabrication, design and more.
The purpose of this event is to create a network for those interested in working in the cycling industry. Although there may not be immediate openings available, we will share resumes with employers seeking qualified help. The following employers have expressed interested in attending this event: Specialized Bicycles, Morgan Hill CA, Giant Bicycles, Newbury Park CA, Cyclone Bicycle Supply, Portland OR, Seattle Bicycle Supply, Seattle, WA, City of Eugene, Bicycle Transportation Program, Castelli Cycling Clothing, Portland, OR and Garmin, Olathe, Kansas. Those interested in job opportunities are encouraged to submit their resume to onsite HR staff, on Sunday, February 26th from 12-5pm.

Description: Registration Required for this FREE class.
Class attendees will not only learn about basic traffic skills but also learn how to perform a bicycle safety check, how to properly fit a helmet, how to size a bicycle for a child, and how to properly carry things on a bicycle. Information will also be provided about gear and clothing, proper lighting, use of lights, and locking a bike. Half the course will be conducted indoors and the last portion will be held in the parking lot with skills & drills before a final ride on neighborhood streets.
This class is made for parents AND kids so all participants are asked to bring a bicycle and a helmet with them to class. Some reduced cost helmets will be available. Anyone requiring a loaner bicycle for the class is asked to state that in the comments section of the registration form. This class is geared towards children ages 5 – 13 and is free and open to all families but registration is required.Kidical Mass!
