UFOTV – DVD Package Design and Logo Design

UFOTV – Venice Beach, CA – 2010
Vector Illustration, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

I started this project without having access to a photograph of David Icke. Having his likeness on this cover seemed important, so I illustrated this image of David with Adobe Illustrator. This illustration was done with a mouse and a photograph that was made for the internet. The next illustration I made was the sacred geometry of circles and lines. From there, I added some trick photography. I found a photo of blurred lights in a dark room and deleted the black in the photo. What was left were the curved lines from the photo. I pasted them over the moon, under the logo and behind the top of David’s head. They bring a great sense of movement to the logo. I duplicated the image of David to suggest that he has visited other worlds or dimensions. I was very inspired by the movie Waking Life and I look forward to doing more vector illustrations like this one.

David Icke has been connecting the dots of conspriracy for the past decade. Big brother was the topic of this documentary. So, the stage was set in Oxford for an over-the-top, shocking DVD cover. I combined satellites, security cameras, the all-seeing eye, outter space, lasers and -of course- explosions and boom! …a scary David Icke DVD cover! I like how David Icke’s satellite is exposing the all-seeing eye. I had a great time working on this project… Just don’t tell anyone that I made this, okay?

STAR Autism Support – Catalog Design

STAR Autism Support – Catalog Design

Star Autism – Portland, OR – 2010
Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign

The small, two color catalog for STAR Autism was designed quickly to promote the latest projects that were being released. The cover is more functional than eye-catching, but not without a sparkle of magic (note the stars flying out of the package in the photo.)

STAR Autism Catalog Design

The STAR Autism catalog was printed on letter size paper and folded to make each page 5.5″ wide and 8.5″ tall. The small size was a design challenge and did not leave adequate room to showcase the photos. I was determined, however, to make the images as large as possible. The product names are placed in blue headers on each page and the product number was also located in a header separated by a vertical line. I used stars as list bullets to reinforce the brand name, but made sure not to get too star-happy!

STAR Autism – Discrete Trial Essentials Teacher’s Aid Kit (Package Design Upgrade)

Star Autism – Portland, OR – 2010
Illustration, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

The Discrete Trial Essentials Teacher’s Aid Kit had been a success and the company decided to upgrade the packaging to boost sales even more. The new package was a full color print job on all eight sides (eight sides due to the flap that folds over.) The design still features a number of my illustrations. The box is 18″ x 12″ x 6″ and is large enough to contain a number of toys and instructional materials.

STAR Autism Illustrations

Having this teacher’s aid kit printed professionally gave STAR Autism a chance to buy a number of the toys in bulk and include them in the package. The toys are represented in activities with illustrations like these. Mixing illustration with graphic design is my favorite part of my career.

Real Soda – Web Design

Real Soda – Portland, OR and Seattle, WA – 2010
Prestashop Shopping Cart, HTML, CSS, PHP

Real Soda is a great example of an ecommerce site on a budget. This site took me 12 hours to design graphics, write W3C valid HTML and CSS code, install the opensource application Prestashop and manage the site’s control panel. This project cost Real Soda under $800 to launch (not counting the monthly payments to their web host.) Although Zen Cart is a very popular shopping cart for web designers, and Magento is making a big splash among programmers, I will continue to support the European Prestashop. It is simple to install, and more importantly, it is simple to manage. That’s important because not all my clients are internet savvy. The folks at Real Soda caught on fast, and the product line has been growing since. You can explore the shopping cart here: http://www.realsoda.net

Emrg N See Homepage

Emrgnsee – Web Design (using some elements created by another designer: W El Rey)

Emrgnsee – Portland, OR – 2010
Wordpress, HTML, CSS, PHP, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator

I was part of a 4 person team that worked on this website. Lucky for me, Matt Dressmon (http://euphoriuhh.com/) did a large amount of the data entry that I had done the previous year. The original design had most of the elements here, but I chipped in the space background (thanks to my work with ufotv.com, I am now the go-to guy for all things galactic.) The background actually has multiple space images layered together. The actual site is quite large, hosting information on workshops, live artists, food carts, vendors and the festival’s music. Besides contributing my graphic and coding skills to the site, I also did a large amount of data entry into the wordpress control panel. The site is located here: http://2010.emrgnsee.com/

Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe ImageReady, HTML, CSS, PHP, VLDpersonals, WordPress and phpBB Forums

YidMatch is an social network (dating web site) built for marriage-minded Jewish singles. To build my client the most secure dating web site, we first purchased software from VLDPersonals. VLDPersonals is a web design company that makes internet dating websites. Outside of the VLDPersonal’s code, the web site also utilizes an additional wordpress cms system and a php forum installation that is synched with the dating site member database. The homepage design targets Jewish, marriage-minded singles. The launch marks the end of a two-year venture in social network programing and designing and I am happy to refer you to see the site here: www.yidmatch.com (feel free to sign up, too, if you are Jewish and single!)

YidMatch.com Features

The YidMatch Features page runs a javascript navigation and highlights the benefits to signing up.

YidMatch.com Options

After purchasing and installing the software, admins are presented with a number of features. Some of the default features were: Instant chat rooms, video, audio, friends, favorites, dozens of search options and a complex events calendar. I took this foundation in the php code, and added a number of modifications and additions to the software.

YidMatch.com Profile Page #1

The YidMatch dating site allows members to modify a number of options on their profile pages. The profile options allow members to build custom web pages to match their personality. Members are able to choose their own graphics, backgrounds and menu placements on their profile page. I designed and implemented over 50 different graphic icons, five of which are part of the member’s profile page. The icons show a large number of characteristics like: eye color, religious background, career, sense of humor and hobbies. Other samples of profile pages are below.

I like the simple animation on this ad. Not too flashy, but just enough flash to make it stick out on a crowded page. This ad is one of 7 advertisements I have made for dhavir productions.
